CAAV orders two north-central airports to shut down due to storm

HCMC – Vinh airport in Nghe An Province and Tho Xuan airport in the Thanh Hoa Province have been asked to shut down from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, October 14, to ensure flight safety amid the impact of Storm No. 7, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Besides this, a large number of flights to Vinh and Thanh Hoa were canceled or rescheduled as the tropical storm is set to approach.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines today canceled two flights on the Vinh-Dalat route and six flights on routes connecting HCMC with Vinh and Thanh Hoa. Eight of its flights linking HCMC with Vinh and Thanh Hoa were rescheduled to arrive before 12 p.m.

Pacific Airlines rescheduled four flights on routes connecting HCMC with Vinh and Thanh Hoa, while VASCO did the same for two flights on the Hanoi-Dien Bien route, so these flights could arrive before 12 p.m.

On October 15, Vietnam Airlines will operate two additional flights on the HCMC-Vinh route.

Aside from flights to/from Thanh Hoa and Vinh, other Vietnam Airlines flights could also be affected due to the tropical storm.
