HCMC – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is seeing a surge in demand for labor as about 40 local businesses are seeking to fill 1,550 job positions.
These openings span various sectors, including sales, processing and manufacturing, and general labor, according to the Can Tho City Employment Service Center.
The center has recently facilitated the recruitment drive in Can Tho, providing career counseling to 3,200 individuals and successfully referring jobs to around 2,900 seekers.
Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, deputy director of the Can Tho City Employment Service Center, attributed the trend of job hopping among workers to low wages, job mismatches, and aspirations for self-employment.
To address the ongoing demand for labor, Can Tho is planning to organize job fairs throughout this year, offering counseling and skills training to workers.
Despite challenges, the city has seen a significant return to work post Tet, with 92.69% of workers back in their roles out of a total of 137,537, local media reported.
