HCMC – The Ministry of Transport temporarily opened to traffic the Cao Bo-Mai Son section of the North-South Expressway project this afternoon, January 28.
The decision came at the request of the Ninh Binh Province Transport Department, the project’s investor, given the rising travel demand in the lead up to and during the Lunar New Year holiday. It is still awaiting completion of the remaining procedures of the subproject.
According to the ministry, the construction of the Cao Bo-Mai Son subproject was complete. The State Appraisal Council also appraised the subproject and confirmed it met the requirements to be opened to traffic.
During the temporary traffic opening period, the ministry asked the authorities of the northern province to ramp up patrols and regulate traffic on the section to handle any issues that may arise.
The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam was told to dispatch its forces to coordinate with the transport authority of Ninh Binh to manage and operate the section safely and effectively.
