HCMC – China’s Foreign Minister Wang Xi is set to visit Vietnam from December 1 to 2 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
During his visit, Deputy PM Quang and China’s top diplomat will jointly preside over the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-China bilateral cooperation steering committee, scheduled for December 1-2. This announcement was made today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wang Xi is also expected to meet with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong, and hold talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
China is Vietnam’s largest trading partner, while Vietnam is China’s largest partner within the ASEAN region.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, two-way trade between the two nations amounted to nearly US$175.6 billion in 2022, with Vietnam’s shipments to China totaling only US$57.7 billion. This means Vietnam had a trade deficit of US$60 billion with the northern neighbor.
