HCMC – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Dong Nai Province authorities at a meeting on April 8 to speed up the site clearance for the Long Thanh International Airport project as sluggish site clearance is slowing down this key transport infrastructure investment.
The prime minister has assigned ministries and agencies to work with the province to accelerate the project, especially for related legal procedures. He also asked the province to work hard to disburse over VND17 trillion for the project this year and ensure the progress of arranging resettlement areas and compensation.
Dong Nai has cleared 99% of the resettlement site and 1,810 hectares of the 5,000 hectares designated for the airport’s first phase. The province has hired a consulting firm to calculate land prices and is expected to complete the compensation plan in the second quarter of 2020.
A Dong Nai official also informed the prime minister of its socioeconomic performance in the first quarter of 2020 at the meeting. The province’s industrial production grew 11% year-on-year, while the local pig herd has continued to expand, at over 2.1 million pigs. The province’s budget earned VND16.1 trillion in the first quarter, a 35% increase year-on-year.
