HCMC – In a heartwarming New Year gesture, the HCMC Department of Tourism, in partnership with Tan Son Nhat International Airport Authority, organized a special welcome ceremony for the very first international visitors to HCMC in 2024.
This warm reception unfolded at conveyor numbers 4 and 5 in Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s arrival terminal. The first visitors were greeted with traditional artistic gifts crafted from coconut leaves, along with vouchers for healthcare services offered by local businesses.
The airport itself offered a traditional New Year ambiance with a variety of activities. These included calligraphy writing, toy figurine crafting, performances featuring traditional musical instruments, and the practice of bud picking.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, five lucky travelers arriving from Melbourne, Australia, received international return air tickets as gifts from the municipal authorities. And eight fortunate guests from Paris, France, got domestic return air tickets in the business class category.
Last year saw a surge in international arrivals in HCMC, reaching a total of five million visitors, a 44.3% increase from the previous year. Local tourism also made a significant contribution with 35 million domestic guests. These combined efforts generated a revenue of VND160,000 billion for HCMC.
This year, HCMC eyes welcoming six million international visitors and 38 million domestic guests, and VND190,000 billion in tourism revenue.
