Former leaders of Ford Vietnam, Be Group join Tasco

HCMC – The former general director of Ford Vietnam, Pham Van Dung, and the co-founder of Be Group, Nguyen Thien Minh, have joined Tasco Joint Stock Company (stock code: HUT).

Dung is now chairman of Vietnam’s biggest car distributor SVC Holdings, a subsidiary of Tasco. He is in charge of managing the company, forming strategic partnerships, conducting research, and exploring new projects with the goal of expanding the company’s presence in regional and global markets.

Dung has over 20 years of experience working for global corporations such as GM-Daewoo, Ford and Inchcape. From 2015 to 2022, he served as general director of Ford Vietnam and was the first Vietnamese person to be selected for this role.

On the same day, Tasco picked Nguyen Thien Minh as chairman of the Members’ Council of VETC Electronic Toll Collection Company Limited and chairman of the Technology Council of Tasco.

With over 20 years of experience in building technology platforms, Minh used to work for large companies and startups such as PayPal, Wells Fargo, BestBuy, OpenTV, DTT, and American Airlines. He was also one of the co-founders of Be Group, a ride-hailing company in Vietnam.

Closing the trading session today, November 2, HUT surged by 6.86% versus yesterday’s session on the Hanoi Stock Exchange to VND18,700 per share, with more than 10.7 million units transacted.

On the southern bourse, the strong bottom-fishing demand propped up the market and helped it achieve the second most positive session since the beginning of this year.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange improved 35.81 points, or 3.44% against the previous session, at 1,075.47 points, with 516 winners and 32 losers. Among those, 78 stocks rose to their daily ceiling prices.

Trade volume totaled over 772.1 million shares worth VND14.6 trillion, up 14% in volume and 12% in value. Block deals contributed over VND865 billion to the total value.

All the stocks in the VN30 basket increased today, with SAB and GVR being the strongest performers. SAB surged by 6.97% to VND61,400, while GVR rose by 6.94% to VND18,500.

VIX took the lead in liquidity in the market, with more than 34.1 million shares changing hands, followed by SSI with 27.4 million shares.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index added 8.31 points, or 3.97%, against yesterday’s session, at 217.97 points, with 176 advancers. The total trading volume reached 116.1 million shares, with a value of over VND2 trillion.
