Furama Resort Danang joins hands with a group of tourism and cuisine associations in Danang to support local ethnic farmers regarding the consumption of local agricultural products.
The deal allows tourism and food supplier companies in the central coastal city to support farmers of Tr’hy Commune, a Co Tu ethnic community in Quang Nam Province, in distributing farm produce from annual crops and building sustainable community-based tourism.
Nguyen Duc Quynh, vice chairman of the Danang Tourism Association, said the agro-tourism cooperation has high potential as Danang has 1,300 hotels and resorts from two to five stars. Green and sustainable tourism is a global trend. Cuisine must be linked with cultural stories, using local ingredients and flavors to promote Danang-Quang Nam local cuisine to domestic and international tourists.
Gentzsch Andre Pierre, general manager of Furama-Ariyana Danang International Tourism Complex, said sustainable development is a key focus value of Furama Resort Danang. The deal would provide the resort with a clean and stable source of farm produce and bring local culture-based gastronomy to tourists.
Tr’hy Commune, 150km from Danang, is home to 390 households with 1,500 people. Most families earn their living from farm produce and medicinal herbs from the forest.
