HCMC – To revive the tourism industry amid the global battle against Covid-19, Hanoi City has set its sights on the domestic tourism market, targeting up to 11 million visitors in the second half of 2020 through various programs and packages.

With the coronavirus pandemic pushing travelers to opt for short tours, visit nearby destinations or travel in small groups, tour operators have accordingly rolled out suitable tours that ensure the safety of visitors to Hanoi-based tourist sites.

A number of destinations in Hanoi City including heritage sites, museums, parks, shopping malls and lodging facilities have introduced various programs to attract domestic travelers and get the tourism sector in the city back on track.

The Hanoi tourism authorities are also actively calling on organizations, units and individuals to participate in the “Vietnamese people travel in Vietnam” program initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The municipal Department of Tourism has introduced a plan to promote domestic tourism in the city this year, VietnamPlus news site reported.

Accordingly, the department will focus on developing numerous tourism products as the coronavirus pandemic has been effectively contained in Vietnam to lure local travelers.

Apart from this, Hanoi’s tourism sector is continuing to build a safe and friendly tourism environment and improve the quality of its services.

Many international and local tourism experts said that the tourism sector will need more time to rebound, especially considering the complicated development of Covid-19 across Europe, the United States and other regions.
