HCMC – The HCMC police this morning, January 20, deported 12 foreigners who previously entered Vietnam illegally and hid in the city, after they completed the quarantine requirements of the authority.

Earlier, some local people were found to have made arrangements to let these foreigners enter the country illegally via border crossings in the north.

The illegal immigrants then traveled to HCMC by bus. However, the HCMC police detected and arrested them when they were hiding in the city’s Nha Be District and Thu Duc City.

The HCMC Police Department has directed the local police to implement urgent measures against Covid-19. The forces ramped up patrols to detect and prevent illegal entry among foreign citizens.

Besides, the police imposed strict sanctions on those that organized illegal entry for foreigners, while taking measures to ensure public security and Covid safety.

  1. Please open borders for international travel : land border crossing ; air ports and sea ports– then people can enter legal – follow covid rules – immigration and pay taxes and do not hide . If border remains closed more longer – people will try to sneak inside without covid vaccine – do not pay taxes and create more problems for govt. It is time to open up international borders.
