HCMC – The HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture has proposed developing the Nha Rong Wharf–Khanh Hoi area into a public park and widening Nguyen Tat Thanh Street along this Saigon River area.
According to the proposal, 60% of the land in the area, totaling nearly 32 hectares, would be set aside for the public park.
The plan would extend toward Khanh Hoi Port, one of the city’s key transport arteries linking downtown HCMC and the southern region. The Department of Construction will determine the specific road width in the next stage to ensure infrastructure connectivity and consistency with the area’s urban development plans.
The road expansion is expected to help ease congestion, improve urban traffic and create a more open riverside landscape, paving the way for future urban development along the Saigon River.
The proposed master plan for the Nha Rong Wharf-Khanh Hoi Port site envisions a green, multi-functional space integrated with an international passenger port. Around 60% of the land area, excluding the Nha Rong Wharf–Ho Chi Minh Museum and national defense land, will be reserved for public green space, community amenities, and recreational facilities. The remaining area will accommodate public facilities and the international passenger terminal.
The department has also recommended that the Xom Chieu Ward People’s Committee review the current zoning plan to serve as a basis for project implementation.
