HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, April 2, confirmed 65,619 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 61 provinces and cities, declining by 6,939 cases against the previous day.

Hanoi still had the highest daily case count, at 7,423, followed by the Central Highlands province of Daklak with 3,999 cases.

Nghe An, Yen Bai and Phu Tho were among the seven provinces that reported over 2,000 cases each, while twelve others had over 1,000 cases each.

The Health Ministry reported 37 more Covid deaths, sending the country’s coronavirus death toll so far to 42,563.

In the fourth coronavirus wave, which hit Vietnam in late April last year, the country has reported over 9.7 million cases, with over 7.7 million of them having recovered.

In related news, the northern port city of Haiphong will suspend operating its pop-up healthcare stations in communes and wards that have less than 50 Covid patients under home care and treatment, according to the municipal government’s order released on April 1.

This move is part of the city’s solutions to safely and flexibly adapt to Covid.

Local authorities in the city were asked to revise the number of active Covid cases, hand over medical records, medicine and equipment of mobile healthcare stations to local medical stations and centers in their areas to continue the management and monitoring of Covid patients under home-based treatment.

Covid treatment facilities with a few number of Covid patients can contact and transfer the patients to local hospitals in the city.
