Hoa Phat pays VND7.1 trillion in tax to state budget in H1

HCMC — Hoa Phat Group (HOSE: HPG) paid VND7.1 trillion in tax to the state budget in the first half of this year, equivalent to its after-tax profit for the period.

The company made tax payments across 20 provinces and cities, with the largest contributions coming from its subsidiaries in the former Quang Ngai and Hai Duong provinces.

Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel paid VND4.1 trillion to Quang Ngai, while Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel contributed VND1.155 trillion to the budget of Hai Duong.

Other key subsidiaries, including Hoa Phat Steel Pipe, Hoa Phat Refrigeration, Hoa Phat Hung Yen Steel, and Hoa Phat Construction & Urban Development, also made notable contributions.

Since its listing on the stock exchange in 2007, Hoa Phat has paid a cumulative VND95 trillion in tax. In 2024 alone, it contributed VND13.5 trillion, marking its highest annual tax payment to date.

The steelmaker expects to complete the second phase of its Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 steel complex in September this year. Once fully operational, Hoa Phat’s total steel output will reach 16 million tons, including nine million tons of hot-rolled coil, fully meeting domestic demand for this product.

Closing the trading session today, July 28, HPG edged up 1.15% to VND26,350, with nearly 99.6 million shares changing hands. It was the second most actively traded stock on the market.

The benchmark VN-Index rose 1.72% on Monday, supported by strong gains in bank and brokerage stocks and increased trading activity. The index added 26.29 points to close at 1,557.42, with 258 winners and 81 losers.

Trading volume on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) increased 27% over the previous session to over 1.85 billion shares, while value also improved nearly 25% to VND46.7 trillion. Block deals accounted for 61.3 million shares valued at more than VND2.2 trillion.

In the VN30 basket, which groups the 30 largest-cap stocks, 26 out of 30 bluechips advanced. SHB hit its ceiling price of VND16,100 with more than 137 million shares traded, taking the lead in liquidity on the southern exchange.

TPB rose 5.4%, SSI gained 5.3%, and VPB added 4.4%, all among the most actively traded stocks.

Brokerage stocks performed well, with VIX, VND, AGR, ORS, and DSC hitting their ceiling limits. Many other stocks in this sector increased between 5% and 6%.

Bank stocks also supported the market. VCB, BID, MBB, TCB, and ACB each rose over 1%. VPB climbed 4.4% to VND25,100 with a trading volume of 57 million shares, the third highest on the market.

Real estate and construction stocks rose in the afternoon session. VHM and VIC edged up 2% and 1.3%, respectively. Smaller stocks such as PDR, DIG, and CII closed at ceiling prices.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index jumped 3.63%, adding 9.23 points to 263.79, with 126 advancers and 60 decliners. Total trading volume on the northern exchange reached 199 million shares worth a total of VND4 trillion.
