HCMC – Tourism revenue in HCMC during the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) holiday grew 3.4% against the year earlier to an estimated VND3.2 trillion, according to the HCMC Department of Tourism.

Domestic tourist arrivals to HCMC during the holiday period reached 325,000, a 1.6% rise from the same period last year, while international tourist arrivals increased by 12.5% to around 54,000, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Lodging facilities in the city saw a surge in occupancy, with an estimated 200,000 tourists staying, increasing 11% over the same period in 2023. The occupancy rate rose 2.7 points year-on-year to around 75%.

To ensure the safety and satisfaction of tourists, the HCMC Department of Tourism has provided guidance to tourism businesses, emphasizing security measures and service quality enhancement.

Collaborative efforts with various departments and sectors have been made to enhance the appeal of tourism products, including the national-level architectural and artistic heritage tour program at the City Hall.

On the morning of April 30, the city welcomed 654 tourists from the U.S., Germany, the UK, Canada, and other countries on board the international cruise ship Azamara Journey. These tourists were scheduled to visit HCMC and Ben Tre for two days from April 30 to May 1.

A press release cited a representative of the Saigontourist Travel Agency as stating that international cruise ship groups will participate in various tours. In HCMC, tourists are experiencing firsthand the bustling atmosphere of Ben Thanh Market, Binh Tay Market, and traditional Vietnamese coffee-making.

They will enjoy a Jeep tour to admire Saigon at night, savor street food, and watch the sunset on the Saigon River by yacht. Tourists will also visit Ben Tre, cycling through village roads, listening to traditional folk music, and rowing boats in the Vam Chua canal.
