HCMC – INSEE Vietnam has broken ground on Kien Binh 2 primary school project in the poverty-stricken commune of Kien Binh in Kien Giang Province’s Kien Luong District.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held on June 16, in coordination with the authority of Kien Luong District.

This is a complex project including a bridge and roads leading to the school, and many facilities of the school such as 24 classrooms well-equipped for teaching and learning activities, a multifunctional hall, and an administrative office zone.

The project has a special meaning to this Mekong Delta locality as it will enable over 700 students of low-income families to access schooling, according to Le Thanh Huong, chairman of Kien Luong District.

The establishment of the school has long been the commune’s expectancy, helping promote literacy levels for local people and develop qualified manpower for the commune. It also meets the long-standing demand and dream of local teachers, students and their parents for teaching and learning in a modern, well-equipped school, the chairman added.

Addressing the event, Philippe Richart, general director of INSEE Vietnam, said the project of Kien Binh 2 primary school carries a special meaning to the cement manufacturer. The project encompasses all of the manufacturer’s three goals in implementing community activities, which are developing education, establishing a connected infrastructure system, and building a sustainable community.

INSEE Vietnam always pursues its aim for creating long-term and sustainable values, said the company’s leader.

The school project is sponsored by INSEE Vietnam, in cooperation with the Kien Luong authority, the Quality Assurance and Testing Center 3, and Germany-based chemical firm BASF Vietnam, with the design consultancy provided by GREENVIET Green Building Consultancy Company and Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC).

It will be built in line with green building standards and completely use INSEE cement which earned the LOTUS Gold certification granted by VGBC. It is slated for completion by the end of 2021.
