HCMC – Italian Design Day (IDD) 2022 in Vietnam, themed “Regeneration, Design and New Technologies for a Sustainable Future”, took place from March 25 to 27 with many in-person and virtual events held in Hanoi and HCMC to mark the annual event.
As part of this year’s edition, in Hanoi, the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) hosted a hybrid conference on IDD 2022 and its relevance for Vietnam on March 25.
Architect Marco Lambri, design director of Piaggio Group and Italian Design Ambassador in Vietnam for 2022, delivered a keynote speech on industrial design and mobility at the conference. Livestreaming of the event was available on the Italian Embassy’s Facebook page and on Zoom.
Earlier in the day, a workshop for HUCE students was conducted by Matteo Ballini, Head of Piaggio Vietnam Product Marketing, on March 25 at HUCE University.
Besides, there was a movie screening of “Enrico Piaggio. Un sogno italiano” on March 25 evening at the Italian Cultural Center, Casa Italia, in Hanoi. An exhibition of Vespa and Piaggio Design was also held between March 25 and 26 at the HUCE Campus.
In HCMC, the celebration kicked off at the Caravelle Hotel. Enrico Padula, Italian Consul General in HCMC, and Fabio De Cillis, director of Italian Trade Agency in Vietnam, attended the event and led discussions on the importance of Italian Design Day for the trade of the relevant sectors.
IDD is a theme-based event held in more than 100 cities worldwide since it was launched in 2017. The program includes exhibitions, talks and other events, creating a platform for art lovers, designers, architects, as well as landscape and urban developers to explore the idea of sustainable development and preservation of beauty on a global scale.
