HCMC – Italy sees significant growth potential in Vietnam’s wine market, according to Alessandra Tognonato, Consul General of Italy in HCMC.
“Vietnam is today one of the most dynamic markets in Southeast Asia, characterized by a growing appreciation for the cultural value of agri-food products. In this context, Italian wine enjoys significant growth potential, strengthened by the economic and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries and by an increasingly favorable trade framework,” Tognonato said.
She made the remarks in HCMC on March 2 during the “Abruzzo Wines – Grand Tour in Vietnam 2026,” a series of events held from March 2 to 5 in HCMC, Danang and Hanoi. The program attracted more than 300 participants, including Italian producers, Vietnamese importers and distributors, and representatives from the hospitality sector.
Tognonato added that events bringing together producers, importers and industry stakeholders help facilitate business exchanges, promote investment opportunities and strengthen commercial partnerships between Italian suppliers and Vietnamese companies.
Also speaking at the event series in Hanoi, Marco Della Seta, ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, said Vietnam represents a promising market for Italian producers due to its expanding middle class and growing interest in premium products and international cuisine.
The series was co-organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) and the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo, with the Vietnam Sommelier Association (VSA) serving as technical partner.
Organizers said the initiative aims to strengthen links between Italian producers and Vietnamese partners while supporting broader trade and cultural cooperation between Italy and Vietnam.
