HCMC – The HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association in HCMC held a ceremony on May 6 to commemorate the Netherlands’ King’s Day (April 27).
Speaking at the event, Tran Trong Dung, chairman of the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association in HCMC, praised the long-standing diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Netherlands, which were established in 1973, and the successful Vietnam visit by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in 2023.
Dung underscored the Netherlands’ position as the largest EU investor in HCMC and highlighted the city’s ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with Dutch counterparts, particularly in flood risk mitigation projects.
“People-to-people exchanges are the foundation of our strong friendship,” he added.
Daniel Stork, consul general of the Netherlands in HCMC, stressed deep cultural ties between the Netherlands and Vietnam. He expressed optimism about the two countries’ growing partnership to address pressing global issues like climate change and sustainable development.
“We have much in common,” he said. “Our shared strengths will pave the way for mutual development in the years to come.”
