HCMC — The Department of Construction of Lam Dong Province has proposed upgrading a road section connecting National Highway 28 and Provincial Road 725 in an effort to cut travel time between the former cities of Gia Nghia and Dalat.
According to the department’s submission to the Lam Dong People’s Committee, the project would shorten the route between Gia Nghia, in what was formerly Dak Nong Province, and Dalat in Lam Dong Province. The new route would be about 20 kilometers shorter, reducing the total distance to 160 kilometers.
The proposed upgrade targets a five-kilometer section starting at Km128+330 of National Highway 28 and ending at Km63+910 of Provincial Road 725, running through Phuc Tho Lam Ha Commune. The project is estimated to cost VND12 billion, to be funded from the provincial budget.
The initiative comes amid a sharp increase in vehicle traffic on Highway 28 following the recent administrative merger of the former provinces of Dak Nong, Lam Dong, and Binh Thuan into the new Lam Dong Province. Local authorities said the road improvement is necessary to accommodate rising demand and support regional connectivity.
If approved, construction would be carried out between 2025 and 2026. Authorities expect the upgrade to enhance travel convenience and facilitate socioeconomic development in the region.
