HCMC – The price of SJC-brand gold bars jumped to VND81 million per tael today, August 20, following a week of stability, according to local media reports.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) today adjusted the price of gold bars supplied to four State-run banks and Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) up by VND1 million to VND80 million per tael. This led to a corresponding rise in the selling prices at the entities authorized to retail the yellow metal.

Specifically, SJC raised its buying price of gold bars to VND79 million per tael and its selling price to VND81 million. One tael is equivalent to 37.5 grams or 1.2 troy ounces.

Other major jewelry firms, including DOJI and PNJ, also adjusted up their gold selling prices.

The central bank had maintained the selling price of SJC gold bars at VND79 million per tael since August 13.
