HCMC – The 13th Party Central Committee (PCC) elected four new members to the Politburo and appointed Le Minh Hung as head of the Organization Commission of the PCC today, May 16.
The new Politburo members are Le Minh Hung, Nguyen Trong Nghia, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, and Do Van Chien, the PCC Office said in a statement.
The elections took place at the ninth plenum of the 13th PCC, which is being held in Hanoi from May 16 to 18.
Le Minh Hung, former governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (the central bank), earlier served as head of the PCC Office.
The other three new Politburo members are Nguyen Trong Nghia, head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education; Bui Thi Minh Hoai, head of the Mass Mobilization Commission of the PCC; and Do Van Chien, president of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The four are all members of the Secretariat of the PCC.
The 13th Politburo now has 16 members, two fewer than at the start of its term, following the PCC’s decision to relieve Truong Thi Mai from her positions as a Politburo member and a PCC member earlier today.
