HCMC – Quang Tri Province is working to complete the Van Ninh-Cam Lo Expressway by June 30, with construction accelerating and authorities addressing land clearance issues.

The VND9.9-trillion project began on January 1, 2023. It spans 65.5 kilometers, including 33 kilometers in Quang Binh Province and 32.5 kilometers in Quang Tri Province.

The Quang Tri section faces delays due to unresolved land clearance issues, particularly around three overpasses. These are located on National Highway 9 in Cam Hieu Commune, the northern bypass of National Highway 9 in Cam Thuy Commune, and National Highway 9D in Ben Quan Town, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, which oversees the project, said construction would be over 80% complete by the end of March. The main expressway is expected to be operational by April 30, but overpass completion depends on resolving land clearance disputes this month.

The local government is taking steps to expedite the process. Tran Hoai Linh, vice chairman of Cam Lo District, said authorities are prepared to enforce land clearance for four households. Sixteen other cases are under review and expected to be addressed by March 28.

Authorities said efforts have been made to ensure fair compensation and support for affected residents.

More than 80 construction teams are working on the project, with around 500 machines and 1,500 engineers and workers deployed. Key tasks such as installing median barriers, guardrails, and fencing are nearing completion, while work on access roads and overpasses continues.

Quang Tri’s leadership has instructed agencies to ensure lawful compensation and encourage cooperation from residents. Completing the expressway on time remains a priority to boost regional connectivity and economic development.
