Quoc Cuong Gia Lai JSC has new CEO

HCMC – Nguyen Quoc Cuong, aged 42, has been picked as CEO of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai JSC (HOSE, ticker: QCG), replacing his mother Nguyen Thi Nhu Loan, who was detained last week.

He also began serving as the legal representative of the company from July 22, the real estate firm said.

Quoc Cuong Gia Lai JSC is expected to hold a meeting of shareholders in HCMC next Tuesday, July 30, to look into the appointment of Cuong as a board member for the 2022-2027 term, replacing his mother.

Loan was arrested last Friday for allegedly violating regulations concerning the management and use of State assets, leading to losses and wastefulness for the State.

By the end of last year, Cuong owned over 537,000 QCG shares, while Loan held nearly 102 million QCG shares, equivalent to 37% of the capital.

Closing the trading session today, July 24, QGC shares crashed to VND7,310 per share, marking the fourth consecutive session it had hit its daily floor price.

On the southern bourse, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange improved by 6.66 points, or 0.54% against yesterday’s session, at 1238.47 points, with 259 advancers and 177 decliners.

Around 740.2 million shares worth nearly VND17.9 trillion were traded on bourse. The recovery of large-cap stocks helped the VN-Index return to the growth track at the end of the trading session.

The VN30 basket saw 18 stocks advancing, nine declining, and three remaining unchanged. Notably, GVR climbed by 6.86% to VND32,700 per share, while PLX, POW and SSB gained over 2% each.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index added 1.57 points, or 0.67%, against the day earlier, closing at 236.17 points, with 96 winners and 57 losers. The total trading volume exceeded 64.2 million shares worth nearly VND1.4 trillion.
