HCMC –  Routes Asia 2022, an Asian route development forum, will be held in the central city of Danang from June 4 to 9, with many programs and activities to connect the air transport industry and flight networks in the Asia-Pacific, the Danang government told a press briefing held last weekend.

The 16th annual event will be co-hosted by UK-based Informa Routes, Danang City, and Duy Anh Trading JSC – IPP Travel Retail.

The event is expected to attract more than 500 delegates representing airlines in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, airports and airport operators, air service providers and international travel companies from Asia and other countries.

Speaking at the press briefing, Thomas Atkinson, senior business development manager of Informa Routes, said the forum is the only route development event for the region and will play a crucial role in resuming air services around the world.

Danang has the potential to become an integral part of global manufacturing and supply chains, and an economic, innovation, transport, financial and cultural hub in the next decade, he added.

Phillip Nguyen, deputy general director of IPP Group and general director of Duy Anh Trading JSC-IPP Travel Retail, said his company was honored to be a part of the upcoming event.

Earlier, Danang was announced as the official host city of the 16th Routes Asia at the World Routes in Italy’s Milan on October 11 last year.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, director of the Danang Tourism Department, said the forum would open up opportunities for the aviation industry, especially the tourism sector in Danang, contributing to the recovery and development of international routes, attracting investment and tourism to Danang.

As part of the 16th Routes Asia, nine events are scheduled to take place, including a tourism-aviation exhibition featuring around 50 booths and gathering 600 delegates from 110 international airlines, 200 airports, 30 travel agencies; a face-to-face business connection program with over 500 meetings between business partners on the system of the Asia route development forum; in addition to conferences and workshops on aviation recovery in Asia and the development of air services in the new normal.
