HCMC – The Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC on February 6, a day before the end of the Tet holiday, served a record number of passengers, at over 102,000.

According to the authority of the airport, the airport on February 6 received more than 70,300 arrivals on 345 flights, while some 31,700 passengers on 327 flights departed from the airport.

The demand for traveling by air has surged over the past few days as many people have come back to HCMC for work or study, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported.

The increasing demand has sent the air fare surging. In addition, tickets for many flights to HCMC until February 10 have been sold out.

As the flight frequency increased, flight cancelations and delays have risen.

Furthermore, the high volume of passengers at the airport has resulted in the shortage of taxis and an increase in the taxi service costs.
