HCMC – Vietnam Coast Guard Region 4 has recently intercepted two vessels suspected of illegally transporting nearly 170,000 liters of diesel oil in the waters off the southwestern coast.
On February 19, Vietnam Coast Guard apprehended the vessel KG 91487-TS, captained by a resident of Phu Quoc City off Kien Giang Province. The vessel was found carrying 145,000 liters of diesel oil without proper documentation.
Later the same day, Vietnam Coast Guard intercepted another vessel, KG 91602-TS, transporting over 25,000 liters of diesel oil.
The ship’s captain has no documents on the origin of the fuel. He is a resident of Kien Giang Province.
The authorities seized the fuel and escorted both vessels to a military port on Phu Quoc Island for investigation.
