HCMC – Vietnam is expected to be one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing resort markets this year, driven by a rebound in international arrivals, industry experts said at a recent hospitality conference.

The Meet The Experts (MTE) conference, organized on October 1 by Savills Hotels, WeHub, and partners, is one of the region’s largest annual real estate and hospitality forums.

The event connected investors, hotel owners, operators, and consultants, aiming to foster partnerships and provide market insights.

Vietnam targets 25 million foreign visitors this year, up nearly 40% from 2024. Authorities are easing visa rules, expanding infrastructure, adding flight routes, and boosting promotions to meet the goal.

Hotel supply grew 20% annually between 2015 and 2019 but slowed to about 5% a year after the Covid-19 pandemic. “Vietnam is increasingly seen as a favored destination for Asian travelers,” said Mauro Gasparotti, senior director at Savills Hotels Southeast Asia and founder of the MTE conference. He noted that new international hotel brands have entered the market across various segments, broadening options for visitors.

Most new projects are concentrated in Danang City and Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province, while Hanoi City sees growth in luxury hotels and HCMC remains short of new supply, according to Savills Hotels.

Executives from Accor, Sun Group, Radisson Hotel Group, and others said demand is rising for integrated developments and all-inclusive resorts. Branded residences in Hanoi City and HCMC are also drawing investor interest.

Speakers at the forum added that foreign investors are playing a bigger role in reshaping Vietnam’s hospitality sector, with sustainability and regulatory reforms seen as key to long-term growth.
