HCMC – Vietnam and Singapore are planning to extend their cooperation in various fields for another 50 years following the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two Southeast Asian nations.
During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore on July 28, Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Phan Van Mai emphasized that the bilateral ties between the two nations are becoming increasingly reliable and sustainable.
He highlighted the significant milestones achieved with the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2013 and the recent Vietnam-Singapore digital economy-green economy partnership.
The economy remains a priority in the bilateral relationship, with Singapore being a major foreign investor in Vietnam. Looking ahead, Chairman Mai expressed the desire to expand cooperation with Singapore in areas that bring higher added value, such as digital economy, innovation, green economy, circular economy, new energy, education, healthcare, and youth exchanges, particularly in the era of Industry 4.0.
Roy Kho, Singapore’s consul general in HCMC, said that the 50th anniversary milestone serves as an opportunity for both nations to explore additional areas for cooperation. He also reaffirmed that HCMC has consistently been a top destination for Singaporean investors.
