HCMC – A 632-meter-long glass walking bridge in the northern province of Son La, which has staked claim as the longest-of-its-kind in the world, will be opened to tourists on Reunification Day, 30 April.
The Bach Long bridge, which is is part of the Moc Chau Island Tourist Area in Moc Chau District, is 2.4 meters wide and 150 meters above the ground, reported the local media.
It is made of super-tempered glass produced by France’s Saint Gobain Group and includes three layers which are 40 millimeters thick.
At the end of the bridge’s walkway, there is the Muong Moc Cave, also known as Chim Than Cave.
The recognition of the bridge as ‘the longest glass walking bridge in the world’ is expected to be announced by Guinness World Records later this month or early next month.
Duy said the authorities are confident about the safety of the bridge and have employed a system to automatically control the number of persons on the bridge at any given point in time.
This is the third glass bridge in Vietnam, following the Rong May in Lai Chau and the Love Bridge in Moc Chau. All of the previous longest glass bridges in the world were in China.
Moc Chau District Chairman Long Trung Tam said that the inauguration of the bridge will be a big event for the district and Son La Province as a whole, contributing to boosting the development of tourism in the province and the northwest.
Ticket prices for admission to the glass bridge will be VND650,000 for adults and VND450,000 for children who are 1-1.4 meters tall. Children under one meter tall will be admitted free of charge.
Ticket prices will be reduced by VND100,000 each on normal days.
As for Son La residents, students and revolutionary contributors, the ticket prices will be VND400,000 for each adult and VND250,000 for each child.
