HCMC – The Ministry of Health this afternoon, May 13, reported 21 new locally-infected Covid-19 cases in seven cities and provinces, namely Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Hanoi, Hue, Ha Nam and Hoa Binh.
All the new cases were detected at quarantine centers.
Bac Giang reported the highest number with seven new cases, followed by Hung Yen and Thai Binh with four each. Hanoi had three new cases, while Thua Thien-Hue, Ha Nam and Hoa Binh had one new case each.
Besides the three cases confirmed by the Ministry of Health, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control reported a case this morning, who is a resident of Ha Giang Province. On May 4, she and her husband visited the Kim Chung campus of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases to visit her father and stayed at a hotel near the hospital with her mother.
On May 5, her parents tested positive for Covid-19 and she was found to be diagnosed with Covid-19 yesterday.
Today, the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control ordered the suspension of all sports activities in the city from 12 a.m. on May 13 to prevent the pandemic from spreading further.
Golf courses will also be closed until the city issues new guidelines.
The city will establish teams to inspect service providers’ compliance with the Government’s and the city’s directions on pandemic prevention and control and punish violators.
In HCMC, a man who registered to have his health checked at the HCMC Oncology Hospital on May 12 declared that he came from Di An, Binh Duong, but is actually a resident of Khe Sanh Town, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, and came to the K Hospital, a Covid-19 hotspot in Hanoi, on April 24.
He and his wife and child were immediately sent to a quarantine area of the hospital and had their samples taken for Covid-19 testing. The results were all negative.
According to the HCMC Department of Health, some hospitals in Hanoi have been put under lockdown, while many patients and their families may move to other hospitals in HCMC for further treatment.
Therefore, hospitals in the city must carefully seek information from patients before receiving them and prepare quarantine areas in departments.
The department also called on patients and their families to make honest declarations to minimize the virus transmission risk.
