HCMC – The construction of a sewer system as part of the project to repair Nguyen Huu Canh Street is believed to have caused an underground prestressed cable of the main span of the Nguyen Huu Canh overpass to break.
Trucks and coaches with over 16 seats are prohibited from using the overpass from September 24 until further notice.
The Roads Management Center (RMC) will coordinate with relevant units to quickly fix the problem to ensure the safety of the overpass.
At the same time, relevant units were asked to check and supervise the main span affected by the incident, especially the girder frame system, abutment and foundation system, to prevent human and asset losses.
According to the HCMC Department of Transport, the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority, which took over the project of repairing Nguyen Huu Canh Street since October 2020 from the RMC, shall take responsibility for the incident.
Nguyen Huu Canh overpass, which was put into use since 2002 with a total length of 618 meters and a width of 12.7 meters, was repaired and given accreditation in 2017.
