HCMC — HCMC’s Metro Line 1 will stop selling paper tickets with QR codes at five stations starting November 1, according to HCMC Urban Railways No.1 Company Limited (HURC1).
Paper ticket sales will end at Thao Dien, An Phu, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, and Saigon Hi-Tech Park stations.
Passengers can buy tickets from vending machines, self-service kiosks, or through the “HCMC Metro HURC” mobile app using bank cards or e-wallets.
Single-ride tickets purchased from vending machines will be valid only on the day of purchase and are non-refundable after expiration.
HURC1 said the change is part of the city’s digital transformation plan to promote cashless payments and improve operational efficiency. Station staff will assist passengers with using vending machines and the mobile app if needed.
From November 1, passengers will also be allowed to bring foldable bicycles on board after a three-month trial. Bicycles must be folded, placed in carrying bags no larger than 120 by 70 by 40 centimeters, and must not obstruct other passengers or be used in stations or on trains.
