HCMC – The Kanagawa Prefectural Government in Japan will provide a 50% reduction in property purchase tax for businesses from outside the prefecture or those reinvesting locally, as part of efforts to attract foreign investment.

The support package also includes financial assistance for investments in land, buildings, and equipment, capped at one billion yen (approximately US$6.47 million), Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji announced at the “Kanagawa Investment Seminar” held in HCMC on November 12.

Governor Kuroiwa noted that 22 Vietnamese enterprises are currently active in Kanagawa, and Vietnamese workers play a vital role in the local economy. He expressed hope that more Vietnamese companies will come to the prefecture.

Highlighting the importance of Vietnam-Japan cooperation, Deputy Consul General of Japan in HCMC Furudate Seiki said Kanagawa recently assigned an official to work at the Japanese Consulate in HCMC, reflecting the prefecture’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. While previous seminars focused on encouraging Japanese companies to invest in Vietnam, this year’s event aims to promote Vietnamese investment in Japan.

Speaking at the seminar, HCMC Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Dung said that Vietnam–Japan ties are now at their best level in 50 years, particularly since the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in November 2023. Cooperation between the two countries has been expanding across investment, trade, digital transformation, human resources training, and innovation.

He emphasized that Japan is not only a key trade and investment partner but also a trusted friend supporting Vietnam’s sustainable development and international integration. HCMC sees Japan and advanced regions such as Kanagawa as important partners in its efforts to foster a green, sustainable, innovative, and livable urban model in Asia.
