Agro-forestry-fishery exports reach US$46 billion in nine months

HCMC – Vietnam’s exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products reached US$46.3 billion in the first nine months of this year, up by 21% from the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Farm produce led the sector with export revenue of US$24.8 billion, a rise of 27.7%. Forestry products brought in US$12.4 billion, up by 20.3%, while fishery exports totaled US$7.2 billion, an increase of 9.5%.

Sector imports increased by 7.5% to US$32.4 billion, resulting in an export surplus of US$13.86 billion, up by 71.2% year-over-year.

In September alone, exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products amounted to US$5.85 billion, up by 31% compared to the same period last year.

Key export items saw strong growth in January-September. Wood and wood products increased by 21.3% to US$11.6 billion, while coffee exports rose by 39.6% to US$4.3 billion despite a decline in volume. Other products, including rice, cashew, fruit, shrimp, catfish, and pepper, also experienced growth.

The U.S. remained Vietnam’s largest export market, accounting for 21.6% of total exports, followed by China at 20.8%, and Japan at 6.6%.

Meanwhile, imports in the agricultural, forestry, and fishery sector rose by 7.5% to US$32.4 billion, with farm produce accounting for nearly US$20 billion of the total.
