HCMC – The Resorts World One (RW1) cruise ship left Phu My port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province today, June 1, for Con Dao Island, with 2,200 international passengers on board. It is expected to arrive in the island on Sunday, June 2.

This is the first international cruise ship to visit Con Dao in 25 years, with the last visit in 1999.

Upon arrival on June 2, Saigontourist Travel will join hands with the Con Dao District People’s Committee and the Con Dao National Tourism Management Board to hold a welcoming ceremony for the passengers.

The passengers will explore attractions such as the Con Dao Museum, Phu Tuong Prison, Phu Son Prison, and the Con Dao Market, and partake in activities including viewing turtle nesting sites, exploring mangrove forests, snorkeling, and kayaking.

Nguyen Thanh Luu, CEO of Saigontourist Travel, said, “In the first six months of 2024, our company has served over 60,000 international cruise tourists, a 15% increase over 2023. Con Dao will be a key destination for international cruise lines visiting Vietnam in the future.”

Michael Goh, president of Resorts World Cruises, said, “The island is famed for its pristine nature, temples and hospitality, with museums and historical sites. In fact, cruising to Con Dao is probably one of the most convenient ways of visiting the island.”
