HCMC – Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in Hanoi, leading to the closure of around 120 schools, many of which have switched to online learning for student safety.

By noon today, September 10, 117 schools had already suspended in-person classes, with more closures expected. Most of the closed schools are preschools and primary schools, with only four high schools affected.

Later in the day, Phan Huy Chu High School sent students home at 1:30 p.m. and will move to virtual classes starting September 11. Luong The Vinh School also closed early and plans to continue with online learning until further notice.

The Hanoi Department of Education has advised schools to prioritize student safety and only resume in-person classes when it is safe to do so.
