HCMC – The expansion of the HCMC-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway will begin in the second quarter of this year under a public-private partnership (PPP) format.
The Government Office has issued an official dispatch to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the local authorities of HCMC, Tien Giang, and Long An, conveying the Prime Minister’s directive on implementing the expansion project of the expressway.
The Prime Minister approved the Ministry of Transport’s proposals and assigned the ministry, along with relevant agencies, to promptly commence the project in Q2 2025, ensuring efficiency and preventing mismanagement or waste during implementation.
According to the latest investor proposal, the 98-kilometer expansion of the HCMC-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway will be split into two separate projects under the PPP model.
The first component project includes widening the HCMC-Trung Luong section to eight lanes with two emergency lanes and expanding the Trung Luong-My Thuan section (including the My Thuan 2 Bridge segment) to six lanes with two emergency lanes. The total cost is VND42.063 trillion.
The second one focuses on land acquisition to support the future expansion of the HCMC-Trung Luong section to 10-12 lanes. This phase will be financed through public investment, with a total budget of nearly VND6.97 trillion.
