HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has set a goal to elevate tourism as a key economic sector, targeting 10.7 million visitors and generating VND38 trillion in revenue by 2025.

The province wants to make tourism a driving force for its socio-economic development, contributing over 13% to its gross regional domestic product (GRDP). By 2030, Kien Giang expects to welcome 23.6 million tourists, including 1.66 million foreigners, with a revenue target of VND105 trillion, accounting for 17.5% of GRDP.

Bui Quoc Thai, director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, stated that to achieve these targets, the province will expand its market presence in Europe and shift its focus to Southeast Asia in the near future. Additionally, Kien Giang will maintain stable tourist inflows from China and South Korea while tapping into the potential of the Indian market and the Middle East.

For domestic tourism, the province aims for local tourists to make up 47% of total arrivals by 2025 and 50% by 2030.

Kien Giang plans to attract visitors from HCMC, Hanoi, Danang and Nha Trang, while also exploring business opportunities in the Central Highlands and boosting connectivity with Dalat in Lam Dong Province.
