HCMC – The Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) inaugurated a chip design center and chip design lab this morning, October 21.
The project inauguration coincides with the 20th anniversary of the hi-tech park’s establishment and takes on a symbolic significance in promoting the development of the domestic semiconductor industry, said SHTP.
The chip design lab is the first critical piece of infrastructure at the Chip Design Center to facilitate cooperation between SHTP and Synopsys, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic design automation solutions and services, according to the local media.
The chip design lab will receive software and technology from Synopsys, transferring them to institutes and universities through virtual private networks and offering in-depth training courses to students of integrated circuit design.
The chip design center will also work with other chip manufacturers to offer multi-project wafer services supporting start-up companies and carry out cooperation programs to mobilize capital from international enterprises and organizations.
The development of the lab, which was crowd-funded, shows the commitment of SHTP to seize opportunities for Vietnam to join global value chains in the semiconductor industry.
SHTP will continue improving the facilities of the chip design center and provide useful and practical services in the coming time.
SHTP cut a deal with Synopsys on October 2022 to train integrated circuit design manpower. Accordingly, Synopsis will provide the hi-tech park with design software and offer support in establishing a chip design center.
