Suspected kidney smugglers arrested

Must read

HCMC – The police of Hanoi’s Ba Dinh District have arrested Tran Xuan Hiep and Nguyen Duy Phuong, who both reside in the city’s Dong Da District, for allegedly smuggling human organs, specifically kidneys.

They said that they had sold their kidneys, so they knew the kidney trafficking process. They sought people who wanted to sell kidneys on social media and offered a price of VND230 million per kidney, reported the local media.

They often came to hospitals to find those wanting to buy kidneys.

On February 1, they made arrangements for two cases and collected VND1.1 billion each. After paying hospital and testing fees, and VND230 million for each seller, Hiep and Phuong earned VND200-300 million each.

Besides these two cases, they had earlier got involved in other cases. When searching their residences, the police found four people who were waiting to sell their kidneys.
