HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is leading a Vietnamese delegation to Nanning City, Guangxi, China, to participate in the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business Investment Summit (CABIS).

The visit, from September 16 to 17, is made at the invitation of the Chinese government.

The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes the ministers of Trade-Industry, Finance, the chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital, and other high-ranking officials.

The visit underscores Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with China and ASEAN-China. Vietnam has consistently sent government leaders to attend all previous 19 expos and has had the largest number of participating enterprises in each expo among ASEAN countries.

PM Chinh is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang and other leaders participating in CAEXPO and CABIS.

CAEXPO and CABIS are two of the significant annual events hosted by China, alongside the Boao Forum, Tianjin Davos Forum, and Shanghai International Import Expo.

In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s total trade with China reached US$105.5 billion. Chinese investors got involved in 399 projects in Vietnam, with total pledged capital of US$1.3 million during this period.

As of August 20, 2023, China ranked sixth among 143 countries and territories that have invested in Vietnam, with 3,949 active projects totaling US$25.8 billion in pledged capital.
