Vietnam reports four new Covid-19 infections today

HCMC – The Ministry of Health has just reported four more coronavirus cases, with two of them in close contact with the 243rd case, raising the country’s cumulative total number of confirmed cases to 255 today, April 9.

The 252nd patient, a six-year-old resident of HCMC’s District 5, resides in Cambodia in a family of five, two of whom were found having the virus.

On April 8, the boy and two other family members returned to Vietnam through the Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh Province. After their entry, they were sent to the Tay Ninh General Hospital for quarantine and their samples were sent to the HCMC Pasteur Institute for testing.

The boy tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, while the test results of the two others came back negative.

The 253rd patient, a 41-year-old female resident of Hanoi City’s Me Linh District, was the sister-in-law of the 243rd coronavirus carrier, while a 51-year-old man, tagged as the 254th, was identified as a neighbor of the 243rd and 250th patients, who live in Me Linh District.

The remaining case, confirmed as the 255th, a 29-year-old male resident of Ha Giang Province, flew back to Vietnam from Russia on flight SU290 through Noi Bai International Airport, the local media reported.

Upon his arrival, he was sent to a quarantine center in Vinh Phuc Province. The patient tested positive for the virus on April 9. He is under treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District.
