HCMC – Van Don International Airport on November 16 achieved a significant milestone as it welcomed the first direct flight carrying 274 passengers from Hokkaido, Japan.
Flight VN9891 transported a delegation led by Hokkaido Governor Suzuki Naomichi and representatives of Japanese businesses, who came with the aim of strengthening ties between Hokkaido and Quang Ninh Province.
This visit is part of the Hokkaido festival scheduled in Halong, which commemorates 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. Furthermore, the event solidifies the exchange and cooperation agreement signed on September 9, 2022, between Quang Ninh Province and Hokkaido Prefecture.
During a meeting with Quang Ninh authorities, Governor Suzuki Naomichi expressed his satisfaction at the fully occupied nonstop flight from New Chitose Airport, emphasizing the Japanese delegation’s keen interest in Quang Ninh and Vietnam as a whole.
Van Don International Airport is actively pursuing collaboration with airlines, with a particular focus on potential charter flights from South Korea, China, and Japan. This initiative aligns with the airport’s strategic plan to facilitate the development of international regular flights.
