HCMC – Vietnam has imposed anti-dumping duties on table and chair imports from China as a sudden spike in imports of these products has impacted local production.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s decision, duties of 35.2% are levied on tables and 21.4% on chairs, with effect from February 13.
Authorities had launched an inspection into table and chair imports from Malaysia and China. They concluded that a sharp increase in the goods originating from China had severely affected local manufacturers, the Vietnam News Agency reported, citing the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the volume of table and chair imports from Malaysia was below 3%, so they would be exempted from the anti-dumping duties.
