Body found in Halong Bay, likely last victim of boat tour accident

HCMC – A body suspected to be a victim of the Halong Bay boat tour accident was found at sea by a local resident on the afternoon of July 26, with authorities now working to confirm the identity.

At around 2:15 p.m. on July 26, a male body was found floating by a local near the area behind Hang Trong (Drum Cave). The body is suspected to be a victim of the Vinh Xanh 58 boat capsizing.

Upon receiving the report from local residents, the Halong Bay Management Board immediately secured the scene.

Quang Ninh Province’s rescue teams quickly arrived at the site to retrieve the body and transported it to Bai Chay Hospital for identity verification through DNA sampling.

On the afternoon of July 19, the tourist boat Vinh Xanh 58, registration number QN48-7105, was touring route 2 on Halong Bay when it was suddenly capsized by a powerful squall.

Only 10 people survived, while 38 bodies have been recovered and returned to their families.
