HCMC – Toll collection at Rach Mieu Bridge is expected to end in late September 2026 after more than 17 years, following revised calculations on the project’s capital recovery and investor returns.

According to the Department for Roads of Vietnam under the Ministry of Construction, the BOT Rach Mieu Bridge project on National Highway 60 is expected to stop toll collection in late September 2026.

The department said that after incorporating inspection and audit findings and revising the project’s financial plan, the project had largely fulfilled its capital recovery and profit expectations for investors, according to the Government news portal.

The toll collection period for the project’s first phase was shortened by 10 years compared with the original contract, equivalent to 50% of the planned tolling period, and by three years compared with the 2016 contract amendment, equivalent to 30% of the toll collection duration.

Rach Mieu Bridge was among the first BOT road transport projects in Vietnam.

The project’s first phase began operations on April 2, 2009, with a toll collection period of 13 years and five months, including 10 years and five months for capital recovery and three years for investor profit generation.

However, toll revenue grew faster than expected due to rising traffic volumes, while several project costs were reduced following inspection and audit conclusions.

Authorities also included more than VND151 billion in state budget support provided during the project’s early stage in updated cash flow calculations, reducing the amount investors needed to recover through toll collection.
