HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has urged the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to consider setting up electronic toll collection (ETC) systems at the gates to local airports to ease traffic congestion there.

The prime minister signed Decision 19 in mid-2020 adjusting the development and management of ETC systems, along with other regulations to determine the authority and responsibility of the relevant agencies and study the procedures to set up ETC systems.

The ministry asked the Department for Roads of Vietnam to coordinate with ACV to set up the ETC systems, the local media reported.

Earlier, ACV proposed installing ETC systems for entrance fee collection at airports to the Transport Ministry, saying that the plan would ensure greater transparency in toll collection and reduce traffic congestion at airports.

ACV has teamed up with its partners to survey and work out plans to set up ETC equipment at airports under the management of ACV.
